BAIRNSDALE KART CLUB SAVES THE BEST FOR LAST
The Bairnsdale Kart Club saved their best Club Day until their final one for the 2007 season with a total of 64 entries. Seventeen off those entries came from the Sapphire Coast Kart Club with several of their drivers going home with trophies making the trip worthwhile. Earlier in the month fifteen Bairnsdale members made the trip to the Sapphire Coast to race at their November with a couple of our members also tasting success. Ten Midget drivers as well as a lone Rookie driver lined up for their final meeting for the year, with Chase Mallen as he has done all year dominating the race meeting with four wins from four starts from Sapphire Coasts Jack Loftus in second. Third place was filled by Keren Sutton who has raced well all year finishing second in the Club Championship for 2007. Junior National Light had a total off seven entries with Jayden Borg competing in the class for the third time this year and taking overall honours with three wins. Second place was Steele Mallen who took out the Club Championship from third place finisher Andrew Chinnick. Jayden Borg backed up his first place in the Light class with a win in Junior National Heavy as well as taking out the Club Championship for the class. The most improved driver in the Junior classes was Mat Hall who finished second with Sapphire Coasts, Ryan Campbell in third place.
Senior National Light was ran for the first time in several years with only three entries all from the Sapphire Coast. Christopher Campbell had a great trip to Bairnsdale winning three races from Trevor Simpson and Samantha Simpson. Clubman Light driver Leah Aspinall had three wins on the day from Scott Rettino who returned after missing the past couple of meetings, third place was filled by Ty Hinchcliffe who has been only racing since June. The ever competitive Clubman Heavy class seen Joe Calabro dominate winning all four races from Tim Shelton finishing he day in second place with three second place finishes, Mathew Telling had a good day finishing in third place.
The Rotax Light class changed to the T.A.G class this month with the addition of the two Leopard drivers from the Sapphire Coast. Bairnsdale driver David Wilson finished the day in first place from Kevin Barton in second, Ian Swan was going for three overall wins in a row but had to settle for third place for the final meeting of the year. Rotax Heavy was taken out by Darren Membrey from Sapphire Coasts Tony Anthony with David Thexton finishing third.
The Bairnsdale Kart Club is looking forward to an even bigger year in 2008 with even more new karters set to join as well as another trip back to the Sapphire Coast with more members joining us on our next visit to their challenging circuit.
